About Spark! Creativity
Our Story
Spark! focuses on addressing the challenges in Snohomish County, which is experiencing rapid growth, including budget cuts where arts education is at risk.
It is important to address these challenges especially during the crucial years of K-12. While arts education is mandated, many schools struggle to provide adequate class time for it, leading to inconsistent access, particularly for students of color, low-income individuals, and English Language Learners (ELL) students.
The nonprofit organization, Spark! aims to address this gap by employing teaching artists, supporting families, and enhancing academic performance and mental well-being, crucial during the pandemic recovery. The pandemic has underscored disparities in educational resources, highlighting the importance of arts instruction in improving academic outcomes and overall well-being, and preparing students for college, career, and life in the 21st century.
