Brief info

Danielle Hayden is a former French, Algebra, and English teacher originally from Detroit, excited to return to the classroom. She is currently a Writers’ Room Resident at the Seattle Public Library and has received a 2022 fellowship from the Jack Straw Cultural Center and a 2022 Grant for Artists’ Progress from Artist Trust. Danielle's articles, essays, and poetry have appeared in various publications, and she has completed workshops with Tin House, The Kenyon Review, and Yale. She is also the creator of the website 3pistolary.com, which encourages people to write and send three personal letters. Danielle published a book for her young daughter titled A is for Aria and is currently working on an essay collection and a novella.

In addition to her writing, Danielle is a freelance writer and certified Peer Support Specialist with a deep commitment to youth advocacy and mental health. She collaborates with schools and community events, including the Dream Unfinished MLK Day Community Event at Garfield High School, promoting literacy and creative expression among young people. As a founding member of the Suicide Prevention Advisory Board at Seattle Children’s Hospital, she strives to support youth well-being through her writing and community engagement.
